Our Domain
ARAMITZ wine estate is located in the Gers region, South-West of France, in the heart of the historical Bas-Armagnac area. Under the supervision of landowner and Armagnac breeder Jean CHABERT, vineyards were remodelled in order to produce the best white wines, the key element providing our Armagnac its rich and complex aromas. The vineyards, the first of which were planted back in 1871, are divided in three grape varieties : Ugni Blanc, Folle Blanche and Colombard. Several other nearby red grape vineyards, composed mainly of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon varieties, are used to produce the domain’s red wines. Our Armagnac is aged in the domain, our oldest vintages dating back to 1897. Rigorous and permanent controls guarantee ARAMITZ’s Armagnac the finest quality. The oak barrels or “pieces” used for the spirit’s ageing are selected according to the desired aromas : “low heat” pieces are used to produce a very fruity brandy, while “high heat” pieces are used for more woody brandies.
The use of young and old pieces, added to a wide variety of grapes, provides a whole aromatic range that enables ARAMITZ to produce flavoury and rich Armagnacs.
